Healthy Soy Weight Loss Plan

The New Milk Of Diet Kindness
In order for a soy food to place the FDA claim of fighting heart disease, it must provide 6.25 grams of soy protein per eight ounce serving. Sun Soy fits the bill! In addition, you'll get 40 percent of the Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) for calcium, 50 percent RDA for vitamin B12, 25 percent RDA for vitamin D, and good amounts of vitamins A, E and riboflavin.

For the lactose intolerant who need to avoid dairy but like milk in their cereal, fortified soymilk is a great choice.

Now about the taste. What's different about this soymilk is that it's creamier than the other soymilks we've tried. It's good enough to drink by itself.

And like Gina raves, "I can't believe it. It doesn't have the icky taste of the other soymilks!"

We agree - Sun Soy is a delicious choice.

What you need: The current recommendation from the American Heart Association is 25 grams of soy protein each day, unless you are pregnant or trying to become pregnant, currently have breast cancer or have a family history of the disease.

Where it's found: It's not just in tofu and soy milk anymore. In addition to the multitude of yogurts, puddings, cheeses and other dairy substitutes, you'll find soy in some fortified cereals and oatmeals, veggie burgers and some energy bars. Or, eat boiled soybeans (known as edamame) as a snack.

Why to be cautious: Controversy about soy products arose in recent years when some research linked it to fertility problems and other studies showed soy may actually increase the growth of breast cancer in women with certain types of tumors. But most doctors still promote soy as an important part of a healthy diet because they say the benefits far outweigh the risks. Soy has been found to help prevent heart disease (which is more common than breast cancer) and to ease symptoms of menopause.
