View large image"I approach my craft from a personal perspective. Influenced by the history and tradition of studio furniture making, I infuse my pieces with my own aesthetic and creative vision."

Mark Del Guidice puts a strong emphasis on every aspect of creating his furniture – from the original design concept to sketches, model making, and mock-ups. He relishes each step in the creative process.

Del Guidice works with a variety of forms, woods, and surface decorations. He prefers to use fine woods that will be a strong background to his colorful surfaces – incised markings that he calls “intuitive hieroglyphs.” These "hieroglyphs" are meant to evoke personal interpretations from the viewer.

His pieces are often called "sculptural" furniture. They are a distinctive combination of the decorative with the purely functional. His style invites the viewer to experience furniture from this entirely new perspective.
