Greater Boston's Yellow River Ensemble

The Yellow River Ensemble, originally named Yellow River Chorus, was established at the beginning of 1995. The members are Chinese students studying here, professionals in various fields, and their family members. They completely use their spare time to participate in the group's activities. The name of the group was changed to Yellow River Ensemble in 1996, which was intended to make it a comprehensive literature and art organization. Besides its weekly rehearsals, Yellow River Ensemble also holds all kinds of parties and concerts frequently for purpose of self-entertainment, it services social communities as well. It aims to spread the Chinese culture, prospers the cultural and art activities in Boston area and among the Chinese communities.
A decade has gone by since the foundation of the Yellow River Ensemble. During the ten-year period, the Yellow River Ensemble has successfully sponsored 96's Chinese Moon Festival Evening Show, and large-scale Chinese New Year performance for 96, 97, 98, 99, as well as the large "Love My Country" song and dance show for Chinese National Day of 2000. It participated in the large-scale song and dance evening shows in Boston area in 2001 & 2002, it also put on a show for the "Unity is Strength" benefit performance to protest SARS. In 1997, the Yellow River Ensemble was invited to participate in the large performance held at the New York Lincoln Center by the Chinese in the east America in celebration of Hong Kong's returning to China, hence the influence was expanded to the areas beyond New England.
In 2003, during the anniversary of "Father of Northwest Folk Song" - Wang, Luobin's 90th birthday, the Yellow River Ensemble once again successfully held the Wang, Luobin's Song Performance which evoked big echo in the locality. In the recent two years, this group has fortunately performed on the same stage with renowned singers like Guo, LanYing, Li, GuYi and others. The Yellow River Ensemble has already become an active literature and art group with certain influence in the Boston arena.
The Yellow River Ensemble has always been under the guidance and help of some musical professionals since its establishment. The position of the conductor has been taken by three musicians successively during the years. In vocal music training, it has also obtained personal advice from many professionals. This group firmly holds on to the love for chorus art, unceasingly improves its own music attainments and level of singing competence. With years of devotion of the young musician Mr. Qiao, WanJun, this group has had some breakthrough in both chorus techniques and management of works.
