Book review: The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown

Though I did enjoy this book, I must first say that all the hype that it has received in media has been far in excess of what it deserves. All the documentaries and entertainment specials looking in to the details of the book are crazy. I think people should just read the book and take it as-is, a book, a work of fiction, enjoy it.
Robert Langdon, the main character of this book is pulled from his hotel room by a French police officer to help them figure out why the curator of the Louvre has been killed in such a gruesome fashion. Or so it would seem at first!
As per normal Robert Langdon gets pulled in to a series of amazing events based on historical events, symbology and in this book, secret societies. I won't get in to the details of the book, about what he is searching for or how is going about it, but it's a good book well worth the read, but as I mentioned, not as good as I had hoped, from all the hype.
If you are interested in reading an excellent book however, read the book prior to the Da Vinci Code, which is called Angels & Demons. This book introduces you to Robert Langdon and in my opinion was a far better book.
As I have mentioned in my other Dan Brown articles, I really enjoy is writing style, they are very easy to read books, with small chapters that go by in a breeze. They are fast paced action mysteries usually with a big blow out conclusion. Though this wasn't really the case with the Da Vinci Code.
If I had to rate this book, I would certainly have to say it wasn't my favorite Brown book, but I would still give it about 3.5 out of 5.
