The TotalStorage FAStT600 Storage Server expands the IBM family of Fiber Array Storage Technology (FAStT) highly scalable offerings with a new entry-level solution that offers improved performance and capacity. The FAStT600 is built upon 2 Gbps Fiber Channel (FC) technology that can help bring highly available RAID-protected storage, with scalable capacity and increased connectivity, to a wide range of storage area network (SAN) applications. The FAStT600 supports applications running on IBM pSeries and xSeries servers as well as servers from Sun, HP, and other Intel -based providers. The base FAStT600 model comes with authorization for up to 14 internal disk drive modules, offering over 2 TB of physical storage capacity. Customers can order additional authorizations to attach up to two TotalStorage FAStT EXP700 Expansion Units, supporting a total of over 6 TB of storage. The FAStT600 is designed to offer a highly available, high-performance, entry-level storage solution supporting a number of industry standards and can scale in capacity and connectivity within a wide range of SAN environments. FAStT600 storage resources are designed to be shared efficiently and scaled rapidly to help address increased demands by users across a heterogeneous FC server environment.
