Paint Stripper

Get Your Next Paint Stripper From Eastwood
Stripping paint is no easy task, but it can be made significantly easier if you choose the right paint stripper from The Eastwood Company. Eastwood features a great selection of supplies for almost any project that requires a paint stripper. Achieving the best results when working with a paint stripper requires a good deal of attention to prep and finishing work. From liquid and aerosol paint strippers, to cleaning and stripping disks, Eastwood can help you find a quality paint stripper that is right for you.

Paint Stripper: Without Methylene Chloride
One of the most difficult things about working with paint stripper is tolerating the harmful chemicals, which is why Eastwood has created a paint stripper that does not utilize methylene chloride as the active ingredient. Eastwood DeKote paint stripper has a longer dwell time (30 minutes to 3 hours). This means that it doesn't work as fast as Methylene Chloride based paint strippers, but as a result, offers the advantage of providing time for the remover to effectively penetrate multiple coats. It is always a good idea to use any paint stripper in a well-ventilated area. Eye and hand protection are also recommended.

Tips:

  • Pour a portion of the stripper into a glass jar or aluminum pie plate so that you can dip your brushes in without contaminating the entire container.

  • Use inexpensive paint brushes. Stripping is a messy job and you will not want to re-use any brushes with which you have stripped paint.

  • Use a plastic scraper or putty knife to remove the old paint so that the surface of the wood is not harmed.
